|a Today, x-ray computed microtomography provides us with the ability to noninvasively measure porous-media properties at a scale approaching 10 μm. In contrast, traditional measurement techniques are either destructive or invasive, while still providing only limited information. Because the output from x-ray CT is directly related to density and atomic number, it is well suited for phase identification and concentration measurements.
