|a A well-maintained lighting system contributes to workforce efficiency and safety. This report recommends routine lighting maintenance practices (primarily relamping and fixture cleaning) for Army installations. The recommendations are derived from consideration of a comparative economic analysis, current maintenance practices in the military and nonmilitary sectors, and information obtained from industry trade and professional associations. Most common sources of interior and exterior illumination are considered: fluorescent, incandescent, and high-intensity discharge. Recommendations concerning window cleaning and wall and ceiling paint are included.
