Description
Abstract:This project focuses on studying a novel hot quark-gluon plasma (QGP) matterpossibly created in high-multiplicity proton-proton (pp) and proton-lead (pPb) collisions at the LHC using the CMS detector. Over the past year, the PI has been leading the Rice heavy-ion group to focus on the analysis of new high-luminosity pp and pPb data at the LHC run 2 at highest energy ever achieved. The Rice group continues strengthening our leadership in the study of collective phenomena in small colliding systems, with a focus on heavy flavor production and dynamics.
