The volume explores the political and cultural function of Shakespearian celebration and commemoration, but it also acknowledges the conflicts they generated across the European Cold War ℓ́ℓtheatreℓ́ℓ, examining the impact of Cold War politics on Shakespearian performance, criticism and scholarship.
