520 3 |a This study examines the pedagogical actions of six middle school teachers during multiple solution strategy lessons. The data were analyzed using two types of qualitative analyses. The findings from the domain analysis indicate that teachers commonly make suggestions, comparisons, justifications and qualitative judgments in order to encourage and support the development of multiple solution strategies. The findings from the vignette analysis led to the creation of framework for categorizing three types of multiple solution strategy lessons: discovery, guided discovery and teacher-directed.
