The Committee on Public Lands, to whom was referred the "petition of Denis Nolan, praying that he may be allowed to purchase or lease a strip of land now occupied by him, lying between the enclosure of the light-house and the shore of Lake Michigan, in Michigan City, Indiana," have had the same under consideration, and after consultation with the Commissioner of the General Land Office and Light-house Board, for reasons set forth in their respective communications herewith submitted, and made a part of this report, do not deem it advisable to grant the prayer of petitioner.
