| Summary: | England's Learning and Skills Research Centre (LSRC) is working to build a strong body of evidence from rigorous research that is focused on critical and innovative thinking and models and solutions for the long-term development of post-16 learning. In 2002-2005, the LSRC will focus on the following activities and goals: identify key priorities; commission major studies; enhance the impact of research on policy and practice; help increase the overall research effort; build on existing knowledge from research and practice; contribute to the development of capacity in post-16 research; develop a wider range of research methods; and engage in "blue skies" studies. The titles of LSRC's major research programs for 2002-2005 are as follows: (1) Participation in Post-compulsory Learning; (2) Vocational Learning, Skills, and Work; (3) Developing Learning and Teaching; (4) The Organisation of Learning; and (5) Developing the Workforce for Post-compulsory Learning. In all these research programs, the LSRC will implement its Building Effective Research strategy, which it is currently visualizing in the following interconnected strands: (1) strategies for optimizing research impact; (2) building capacity; and (3) developing research methods. In its research activities, the LSRC will work with a wide range of local, national, and international partners and stakeholders from education, government, and business/industry. (MN) |
