520 |a This document describes the Fall 2002 credit and non-credit enrollments for Connecticut Community Colleges. It indicates that with 44,869 credit enrolled students in Fall 2002, there is a 5.2% increase in enrollment over Fall 2001. A record number of full-time equivalent (FTE) students enrolled in Connecticut Community Colleges during the Fall 2002 semester, with 23,485 FTE students. Minority enrollments represent 29.9% of the student body, with 26.4 % being Black and Hispanic. This represents a 5.5% increase in minority enrollment since 1998. The gender composition however has remained consistent with 61.7% female and 38.3% male. The average age of full-time and part-time students is 22 and 32 years respectively. Full-time student enrollment is increasing, with 69.6% of the students under the age of 22 years. Overall, 36.3% of the students are under the age of 22 years. Students enrolled in occupational programs make up 42.3% of the total student enrollment. Liberal Arts and Sciences and General Studies programs account for 30.4% of the students, and the remaining 27.3% of the students are not enrolled in a specific degree or certificate program. Recently, Liberal Arts and General Studies have seen the largest growth in student enrollment. Non-credit enrollments also attract a large number of students with 45,594 students enrolled.
