The report then describes a variety of federal, state, and local compensation initiatives to improve child care workers' salaries or benefits. The report highlights the need for more consistent, reliable, and comprehensive data collection about the child care workforce. Appendix 1 of the report presents compensation and turnover data collected in various states during or after 1998.
