The six societal roles emphasized are: lifelong decision-maker, knowledgeable consumer, productive worker, responsible citizen, prudent saver, and global participant. The book contains 17 lessons. The introductory lesson, "Economic Role Call," connects people's day-to-day activities to common roles (the six societal roles) and the economic system. The set of lessons include: "Introductory Lesson: Economic Role Call"; "The Path Not Taken"; "Give and Take"; "To Market, Which Market?"; "How Many Will You Buy?"; "Demand Shifters"; "Inflation"; "The T-riffic T's Company: Production Decisions"; "How Many Should We Sell?"; "The Profit Puzzle"; "Where Does the Money Go?"; "Where Does the Money Come From?"; "What Does the Nation Consume?"; "An Island Economy"; "No Free Lunch"; "Savers and Borrowers"; "Frontier Specialists"; "Don't Fence Me Out! (Barriers to Trade)." The concluding lesson, "Roll Call Quiz," reviews the six societal roles and introduces a simple model of a market economic system.
