| Summary: | This annual report describes the information, technical assistance, and support the Children's Defense Fund (CDF) has provided during 1996. The report also describes the legislative agenda pursued as well as the cooperative projects engaged in. The first section of the report, "Stand Follow-up Action," describes the Stand for Children demonstration and its successes, which include the raising of public visibility of childhood needs, unifying the moral voice for children, and the start of a grassroots movement in support of children. The second section,"Phases of CDF's Development," addresses organization of supporters, conversion of nonsupporters, and myths about the CDF. The third section, "CDF's State and Local Presence and Action Models," describes a sampling of CDF policies and community action models, including the CDF annual conference, Child Watch, Black Community Crusade for Children, Freedom Schools, Haley Farm, and National Observance of Children's Sabbaths. The fourth section, "1996 Financial Report," provides an accounting of revenues and expenses and the general financial position of the organization. The fifth section, "Donors," provides an accounting of corporate and individual donors, bequests, and memorial contributions.
