| Summary: | The first edition of "Child Sexual Abuse: An Interdisciplinary Professional Reference Manual" (ED 279 974) represents a state-of-the-art summary of approaches in child sexual abuse interventions, emphasizing interdisciplinary cooperation between professionals in successful case management. When the first edition was published, survey questionnaires were mailed to purchasers of the manual. As a result of comments received from purchasers, editorial changes and major additions were made in the manual. This document contains new material and revisions of the first edition. To answer a number of comments centered on the fact that there was no general overview of current thinking about the phenomenon of child sexual abuse in modern American society, a brief prologue has been added to provide this overview. Because many respondents requested a section on prevention of child sexual abuse, a section has been added which provides an overview of the major issues and approaches considered crucial in all prevention efforts. In addition to narrative sections of the manual, the service directory of agencies providing services in child sexual abuse intervention and treatment has been updated through July, 1987. These pages are to be used to replace the appropriate pages in the first edition. (NB) |
