Description
Summary:The four volumes of the Alabama State Commission on Higher Education's 1988 Inventory of Academic Programs capsule an extensive variety of instructional programs offered by the state's 57 public institutions of higher education and the many private universities and colleges. Volume II focuses on private senior institutions and branch campuses as well as private junior colleges. It offers a summary view of all programs offered for credit and culminating in an academic award as of June 1, 1988. All programs are classified according to a standard taxonomy developed by the National Center for Education Statistics' Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP). A list of Alabama's resident private senior institutions and resident private junior colleges is followed by an explanation of abbreviations of common degree designations and a taxonomy of instructional programs. Sections A, B, and C are inventories of: private sector institutions; branch campuses of private sector institutions; and private junior colleges. In each section the information is listed by CIP/field of study/program title, institution, degrees offered, and accreditation/level. The appendix discusses accreditation and offers a list of specialized accrediting/approving associations cited in the academic program inventory. (SM)
