Summary:These two booklets, one for juvenile counselor candidates and one for test administrators, provide information about the examination developed as part of the evaluation procedures for juvenile counselor candidates in the Standards and Training for Corrections program in California. The candidate information booklet (1) provides background information about the development and validation of the Juvenile Counselor Examination; (2) familiarizes candidates with the examination format; (3) previews the contents of the Juvenile Counselor Examination; and (4) provides sample problems (with answers) to help candidates prepare for the examination. The user's manual (for test administrators) describes the format and content of the Juvenile Counselor Examination and provides a brief history of its development. Information about the examination's reliability and validity is also provided, along with detailed administration instruction. Finally, guidelines for score interpretation are given along with cautions as to the limits that must be placed upon such interpretations. (KC)
