Summary:This document contains a set of curriculum objectives in mathematics for elementary and middle school students in Boston, Massachusetts. The objectives, which include all the Massachusetts Basic Skills, were based on a wide variety of curricula, textbooks, and academic literature, and were reviewed by several teachers, administrators, and parents in Boston. The specific objectives are presented by level (kindergarten to level eight) under seven headings: (1) numbers and numeration; (2) computation; (3) fractions; (4) decimals and percent; (5) measurement; (6) geometry; and (7) estimating, graphs, etc. The report has been designed to allow one to trace objectives that relate to a specific skill, through successive levels of increasing difficulty. Checklists for monitoring student progress at each level are included. (MJL)
