Summary:This manual is a guide for principals to use in planning and directing a system of leadership and instructional improvement. Its components are designed specifically to provide an established process for improving instruction at the building level. It achieves this objective by: (1) placing the principal in the role of instructional leader; (2) providing systematic planning and consistent interaction within schools and between schools and the district office; (3) providing the design for effective use of test results for goal setting, planning, resource management, and evaluation; (4) setting cohesive goals for school improvement plans; and (5) creating a continuous management program to improve administrators' efficiency. Contents include an implementation timeline and chapters on orientation, data analysis, goal setting, plan of action, implementation, evaluation, and administrative organization.
