It describes the Whole Life Program, an interdependent apartment program combined with continuing education for adults with developmental, physical, and emotional disabilities. Section I, Planning and Development, begins with an introduction to the concept of a Whole Life Program. Chapters 2-8 explore the process of running the program. Chapter 2 considers program structure and design. Chpater 3 looks at implementation and modifications that may be needed. Chapter 4 explores curricula, the adult education component, and program evaluation elements. True-life anecdotes from various phases in the Whole Life Process appear in chapter 5. Chapter 6 discusses the health advocacy role in all phases of the Whole Life program. Chapter 7 addresses tasks of case management. Future designs for growth are examined in chapter 8. Section II is the Whole Life Program operations manual. Chapters cover philosophy, assessment, intake, support services, structure, curriculum, evaluation of participant progress, management of individual funds, emergency procedures, emergency beeper system, nutritional standards, psychological concerns, medical concerns, exit, and vehicle usage and maintenance.
