Summary:This student learning guide contains 17 modules for completing a course in carpentry. It is designed especially for use in secondary schools in Palm Beach County, Florida. Each module covers one task, and consists of a purpose, performance objective, enabling objectives, learning activities keyed to resources, information sheets, student self-check with answer key, performance test, instructional resources, and knowledge test. The 17 modules cover the following topics: layout and cutting of common rafters; layout and cutting of hip and valley rafters; using portable saws, portable electric routers, portable electric drills, table saws, portable electric power planes, and fasteners; followup applications and interviews; using band saws and scroll saws; erecting scaffolding; building sawhorses; using drilling and boring tools; identifying employment opportunities; measuring and squaring lumber; practicing safety; and using radial arm saws.
