The guide consists of five themes and includes performance objectives for each: foods eaten at school (planning a school lunch, keeping a lunch diary, making a nutrient mobile); foods eaten at home (identifying a variety of foods, packing lunches, understanding how the body uses food, buying food wisely, recipes for international snacks); foods eaten in restaurants (collecting menus to compare restaurants); foods grown (recipes for snacks, exploring plant growth); and foods eaten by athletes and physically active people (exploring the role of nutrients in growth and development, maintaining physical fitness, planning menus for an athlete).
