| 520 | |a In spring 1981, a need was identified for the improvement of the faculty evaluation system at Brunswick Junior College (BJC). A committee, formed to study methods of faculty evaluation, recommended an evaluation system based on Modified Management by Objectives (MMBO). Subsequent to approval by the college administration, the new system was implemented. This paper provides a description of the process, outcomes, reevaluation, and modifications in the evaluation system which occurred in BJC's Division of General Studies. Introductory comments provide background on the committee's formation, charge, and activities; the process established for individual goal development; the responsibilities of the division and department chairs and faculty members; and the time schedule for the 1982-83 academic year. Section I deals with goals of the division for 1982-83, including information on related activities and evaluation measures. Section II provides examples of personal development objectives for individual faculty members, including information on the relationship of the faculty member's objectives to the division's objectives, weight accorded to the objectives, and evaluation criteria. Section III presents guidelines for faculty for setting goals and implementing the MMBO procedures. Finally, examples of faculty's MMBO's for 1983-84 are presented, covering professional development, institutional services, and teaching areas. (LAL) | ||
