Chapters focus on: (1) users and uses (specifying targeted audience and general objectives); (2) planning process (including a rationale and training directives); (3) forestry and the environment (defining ecology, succession, and limiting factors); (4) understanding forestry practices (discussing growth, protection, and harvesting procedures); (5) understanding institutional limitations (presenting legal, social, and economic considerations); (6) multiple-use forestry programs (analyzing implementation factors); (7) harvesting trees for wood products (itemizing types of products); (8) fuelwood management programs (stating the importance and impact of management); (9) agro-forestry projects (discussing benefits and problems); (10) shelterbelt and wind-break plantings (explaining structural and functional aspects; (11) reforestation and afforestation projects (outlining planning and planting procedures); and (12) other considerations (providing additional information).
