| Summary: | This list of teacher education institutions accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) includes the names of 525 colleges and universities. Accreditation is valid from September 1, 1985 through August 31, 1986. The accreditation status of each institution's teacher education progams is reported by degree level. The list also gives the year in which the institution first became accredited by NCATE and the year in which the institution's accredited status will expire. The scope of accreditation extends to undergraduate preparation programs for early childhood education, elementary teaching, secondary teaching, special education teaching, K-12 teaching, and educational communications and information technologies and to graduate preparation programs in all of these areas as well as reading, school principalship, supervision and curriculum development, counseling, school psychology, and school superintendency. Also included in this booklet are: a list of personnel, committees, and organizations involved with NCATE, and a statement of the purpose, policies, and procedures of NCATE. (CB) |
