| 520 | |a A manual is presented for consultant-evaluators who visit colleges and universities as part of the accreditation process of the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. An introductory section describes the important role of the visiting team in the Commission's accreditation activities and provides information on the Commission's policies related to conflict of interest. Early and thorough planning that is an integral part of every successful visit is described, and suggestions about conducting the on-site visit are offered. Attention is also directed to writing the team report, including content, format, and the draft and final report. Included are a sample title page as well as a sample worksheet for the statement of affiliation that suggests wording for each section. The role of the team chairperson in the review process is described, along with all aspects of preparing for, conducting, and reporting a focused evaluation. Also covered are special kinds of visits, including pre-visits, sequential visits, interregional visits, joint visits, and generalist visits. Criteria for accreditation and candidacy and an index of Commission policies are appended. (SW) | ||
