Summary: | Workshop and seminar summaries and abstracts of papers from the eleventh international conference on improving university teaching are presented. Topics addressed by theme and seminar presentations include: quality control in higher education, institutional approach to academic improvement, interactive video, international evaluation and an electronic document delivery system, new technology and student learning, and improving the teaching-learning process through multiple sources of feedback. A collaborative symposium on applications of cognitive models to college teaching is also covered, along with a case study on academic improvement. Workshop topics include: the use of boardgames in the classroom, using written and oral work in content courses, teaching and research collaboration with undergraduate students, evaluating faculty development programs, interdisciplinary studies, creating computer-based learning materials, tutorial teaching, and constructing and scoring essay questions.
