| Summary: | Workshop and seminar summaries and abstracts of papers from the eleventh international conference on improving university teaching are presented. Topics addressed by theme and seminar presentations include: quality control in higher education, institutional approach to academic improvement, interactive video, international evaluation and an electronic document delivery system, new technology and student learning, and improving the teaching-learning process through multiple sources of feedback. A collaborative symposium on applications of cognitive models to college teaching is also covered, along with a case study on academic improvement. Workshop topics include: the use of boardgames in the classroom, using written and oral work in content courses, teaching and research collaboration with undergraduate students, evaluating faculty development programs, interdisciplinary studies, creating computer-based learning materials, tutorial teaching, and constructing and scoring essay questions. For each workshop, objectives, length, activities, previous experience expected, maximum number of participants, and an index of presenters are provided. (SW) |
