Summary: | This document contains tables and graphs indicating the dropout and student retention rates in the Detroit (Michigan) Public Schools from December 1984 through November 1985. Shown are (1) analysis of educational status (dropout, graduate, transfer, and attendee rates) for the city's high school population; (2) comparative educational status analysis for 1983-84 and 1984-85; (3) distribution rate of high school population by status and by high school; (4) numbers and disposition of students whose whereabouts were tracked; (5) graduation, retention, and transfer rates by school of origin; (6) comparative dropout rates by school (1983-84 vs. 1984-85); (7) individual school dropout rates; and (8) individual school graduation rates. The 1984-85 study showed an annual dropout rate of 13.77 percent. Further, the ratio of dropouts to high school enrollment decreased from the previous year and the ratio of graduates to high school enrollment increased. (GC) |
