| Summary: | This document begins with an overview of the authority, functions, and responsibilities of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS/BPH), an agency of the Library of Congress that is responsible for administering the national program to provide reading materials for the nation's blind and physically handicapped individuals and U.S. citizens living abroad. Functions of the following NLS/BPH divisions are then detailed: (1) the Office of the Director, including the Director, Automation Office, Research and Development Officer, Administrative Section, and Publications and Media Section; (2) the Materials Development Division, including the Materials Development Division Office, Bibliographic Control Section, Braille Development Section, Collection Development Section, Engineering Section, Production Control Section, and Quality Assurance Section; and (3) the Network Division, including the Network Division Office, Consumer Relations Officer, Inventory Management Section, Music Section, Network Services Section, and Reference Section.
