Sixty dropouts and a comparable number of graduates were interviewed in 1963 and 1964. Evidence indicated that dropout is not related so much to lack of ability as to personal values and characteristics. It is also concluded that the offerings of the institution and the compatibility of the students' goals and values with the institution's aims were important determiners of the dropout rate.
