This report summarizes the results of a telephone survey, conducted in Chicago, Denver, and Boston, that attempted to determine whether public television viewing is related to other patterns of adult leisure activity. After public television viewing or nonviewing status was established, 1,792 respondents were asked to rate their levels of participation in activities relating to religion and family, crafts and home, politics, sports and movies, and the arts. Separate measures of involvement assessed interest in public affairs, reading habits, club and organizational activities, and general television-viewing patterns. The relationship between educational background and these activities is noted; differences in levels of interest in specific leisure-time pursuits for each city are also discussed. (KS)
