| Summary: | This report of employment and job projections in Missouri for 1974 through 1980 is divided into two parts. The first part describes in detail the methods and data sources which have been used to generate employment and job opening projections. The concepts of projections versus forecasts and employment projections versus demand projections are explained. Also examined are a number of specific assumptions related to the general assumption that supply and demand for particular occupational groups will continue to grow as they have in the past. Projections are presented in two formats: industry employment projections and occupational employment/job openings projections. Finally, projection methods are given, including the model this project adopted for its use, and three future projection activities are summarized: improving the data base, developing more flexible models, and evaluating the accuracy of projections. The second part of the report (which comprises the bulk of the document) is comprised of projected openings of jobs and employment (identified by U.S. Office of Education program code) for St. Louis and Kansas City Standard Metropolitan Statistical Areas and for eleven groupings of counties covering the reminder of the state. The projections are divided into two sets of tables: (1) projected wage and salary employment by industry, and (2) projected employment and job openings by instructional program and census occupation.
