The new program included development of necessary instruments and inservice training and utilized feedback from students, parents, and staff. Developmental and implementational components consisted of the following: setting goals, such as the students' ability to think critically and to solve problems; students' demonstration of increased knowledge of the scientific processes and their ability to hypothesize, analyze, and synthesize; and evaluation of their progress through observation and quizzes. Evaluation results indicate that the participating students mastered the objectives set for the mini-science program. The students, teachers, and parents involved considered the mini-science program effective, interesting, and worthy of replication the following year. (Author/BB) | ||
