An initial program evaluation, conducted on three levels of the boys' functioning (personality structure, cognitive functions, and overt behavioral measures) indicated significant improvement in the treated group in such areas as socialization and academic achievement. The second evaluation, a series of followup studies conducted 2, 5, 10, and 15 years after treatment indicated that interventions during adolescence produced consistent, profound, and long-lasting changes in these youth.
