Description
Summary:The booklet describes an approach to individualizing parent involvement in special education programs. A family needs checklist addresses parents' knowledge (of community resources, educational programing, support services, and general information about normal developmental levels and tests and measurement); support; skills in working with children; and willingness to be involved in parent programs. An activity list parallels the needs checklist and lists possible activities for each need. A final section examines types of activities, including information packets, group speakers, individual parent-staff conferences, lending library services, and workshops and conferences. (CL)
