Summary:Covering the period July 1 thru December 31, 1977, the seventh semi-annual report summarizes the first half of the third year of operation of the educational and hatchery programs. The first section details the educational component, i.e., academic program, high school visitation program, educational and operational activities, student recruitment, and advisory services. The last section provides the following: a description of facilities which were expanded from 20 to over 10 million alevin capacity; a data presentation for egg take of pink, coho, and king salmon and for incubation of eggs and fry up to December 31; a report on the return strength and uses of the first non-profit private hatchery produced pink salmon, along with a narrative of problems encountered in harvesting salmon surplus to hatchery egg and natural escapement needs and results of the marked fry release; a presentation along with research suggestions on harvest critique and future recommendation concerning selection of fishermen and processors; and an outline of the financial budgets listing income sources and operational expenses for the past 6 months (first 6 months of 1977 are in June 15, 1977 report) and harvest income to operate the hatchery program for the next fiscal year.
