Summary:These 12 modules of instruction are designed to aid business teachers by providing the common core, minimum skill-level competencies identified as basic to all business careers. Materials are adaptable to individualized, small group, or traditional classroom instruction. The modules are divided into five categories of basic skills: business math/machines (addition, division, multiplication, and subtraction), communication arts (following directions, handwriting, and spelling), human relations (personal skills, job keeping skills, and job interviewing), applying for a job (job application and job interviewing), and telephone techniques. Each module may contain some or all of the following components: instructor information sheet (with competency, suggested criterion, teaching suggestions, and notes), student materials (instruction sheet with competency, purposes, and checklist of learning activities), information sheets (some with exercises), worksheets with answer keys, a pretest, a posttest, and answer keys.
