Description
Summary:This manual describes procedures followed by the University of Tennessee, Knoxville Library Cataloging Department in its Music Retrospective Conversion Project. The goal of the project, running from October 1, 1983 to December 31, 1984, is full conversion of bibliographic records for scores, recordings, and music monographs to machine readable format. The manual is divided into two sections. In the first, those procedures that form the general workflow are briefly described, with designations of staff responsible for each step. The second section provides step-by-step instructions for individual phases of the project: searching, questionable match resolution, authority work, coding and input, music analytics, and editing. A 16-item bibliography is provided. Forms used in the project are appended as samples to be freely adopted or modified by other libraries. (THC)
