Summary: | This report describes the activities of the Resource and Referral Service (RRS), which was established in 1977 as a member of a nationwide dissemination network called the Research and Development Exchange (RDx), in using electronic networks as part of its dissemination effort. Discussed first are the history and objectives of RRS. The next chapter provides information on various national and state electronic networks, including target audience, content, and contact person. The third section relates the ways in which RRS participated in selected electronic networks between December 1, 1984, and September 30, 1985, and offers guidelines for joining and contributing information to networks. Included in the next section are profiles of 18 national/international and 12 state networks. Each profile contains information concerning some or all of the following: sponsor, cost, target audience, information contact, special features, program content, and start-up date. Appendixes to the guide include ERIC digests on electronic networks and on networking and microcomputers, addresses of agencies and organizations mentioned in the report, a brochure describing RRS, examples of information contributed to various electronic networks, a list of resources, and a list of related readings.
