Summary:Presented is the final report of a special 2-year project to provide coordinated community services in the area of physical education and recreation for the handicapped in New York State. Described are activities for the following project objectives: development of a mechanism to achieve more cooperative planning, programing, and servicing at the local and state levels; identification of the priority needs of the handicapped; the expansion and diversification of training opportunities for personnel; improvement of teacher competencies and existing programs; initiation of new programs; and improvement of local, regional, and state communications. Noted are use of the state level Planning and Development Team and the Regional Task Force Committee. The major portion of the document consists of appendixes such as a chronology of project activities, summaries of various conference proceedings, a listing of teacher competencies, and public awareness materials.
