Study I was an effort to measure the duration of iconic storage using a partial report method in children ranging in age from 6 to 13 years. Study II was designed to detect age related changes in the rate of processing (perceptually encoding) letters from iconic storage into more permanent memory. Subjects were 2nd- and 5th-grade children and undergraduates. Study III measured memory and scanning rates in children and adults using letters of the alphabet as memory items. A number of results are discussed. (MS) | ||
