Summary: | This handbook contains statistics on the employment status of the population: the personal, occupational, and other characteristics of the employed, the unemployed, and persons not in the labor force. The statistics are obtained from a selected sample of the population which is intended to represent the noninstitutionalized civilian population. Information is presented about the employment status of each member of the sample population household, sixteen years of age and older. The data are grouped under economic subject matter headings and without regard to the surveys or other sources from which the information was developed. Tables are contained under the following major headings: labor force, employment, unemployment, hours, productivity and unit labor costs, compensation, prices and living conditions, unions and industrial relations, occupational injuries and illnesses, foreign labor statistics, and general economic data. In general, each table presents data covering the 1967-1976 period. Technical notes describing major statistical programs and identifying the tables derived from each program precede the tables.
