520 |a A three-year (1979-82) training program funded by the National Institute of Education (NIE) at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville is designed to increase participation by women and minorities in educational research. An objective of the project is the provision of practical experience for doctoral students in project design and data collection, analysis and interpretation of data, report writing, and paper and proposal presentation. Other project objectives are participation by graduate students in group dynamics, regional and national conferences, training workshops, internships, evaluation, and colloquia and minicourses designed to enhance research skills. In this report for the 1980-81 project year, progress toward the accomplishment of each of these objectives comprises a separate section. The grant management procedures that involve student participation are outlined. The concluding section contains individual reports by 13 students on goals set and accomplished. The appendices contain various forms, descriptions of project personnel positions, colloquia topics and their evaluation, evaluation instruments, and a program for a time management workshop. Also included in the appendices are two papers presented at professional meetings; one describes the project recruitment and selection procedure, and the other evaluates the program. (MLF)
