| Summary: | Tilton versus Richardson, the Connecticut Colleges' case, was the first explicit test of the constitutional propriety of federal grants to church related colleges and universities. Specifically the case involved the constitutionality of granting federal funds under the Higher Education Facilities Act to 4 church related colleges in Connecticut. This report presents an interpretation of the June 28, 1971 Supreme Court decision that went 5 to 4 in favor of the colleges.
