The participants included students, instructors, administrative, and maintenance personnel. An acceptance profiling technique was developed that appeared to be highly diagnostic of the reasons for acceptance or rejection of particular trainers. It was evident that both highly accepted and seriously rejected trainers were represented in the sample. Methods for increasing trainer acceptance were outlined in terms of improvement in specific areas of simulation; improved software; greater qualifications for instructors; improved evaluations of performance; and improved understanding of the purpose, capabilities, and limitations of trainers by the users.
