This brief booklet was written to help persons who are faced, or will be faced, with this situation. It begins with some shortened versions of discussions held with single parents and with children of one-parent families. Despite financial and personal setbacks that have resulted from their loss of parent or mate, these people feel that they have made a good adjustment and have succeded in coping with many of the problems associated with "one-parent families." The last part of the booklet summarizes what the problem areas are, suggests ways to obtain help through the initial period of adjustment and difficulty; presents an example of a plan of action; and offers some practical advice on the adoption of sensible attitudes for single parents and their children.
