|a This final report summarizes our most recent experimentation on the mechanism by which the erythropoietin interaction with cell surface receptors initiates nuclear RNA synthesis. It also describes the biological and biochemical effects of endotoxin-free erythropoietin, the finding that maximal hemoglobin synthesis in semi-solid medium probably requires cell-cell interactions and the initial clinical testing of erythropoietin in patients with anemia due to chronic renal disease.
