|a Large models of the Mark V and Mark VI floats used by the Bureau of Aeronautics, Navy Department, for single-float seaplanes (N.A.C.A. 41-A and 41-B, respectively) were tested in the N.A.C.A. tank to provide general test data for typical single floats and a basis for possible improvements of their form. The tests were made at angles over a wide range of possible loadings and also free to ttim at the design load. N.A.C.A. model 35-B, a pointed-step hull that might be suitable for the same service, was tested free to trim with the same load and position of the center of gravity as used in the tests of the Mark V and Mark Vi floats.
