Description
Summary:A review is made of the assumptions that must be made in using a weather radar set for quantitative measurements of weather echoes. A simplified derivation is provided showing the relationship between the purely meteorological 'radar reflectivity factor' Z and the radar received power for any weather radar set when the assumptions are fulfilled. A nomogram furnished for use with the AN/FPS-77 enables a simple conversion of receiver power to Z values. (Author)
