Summary: | The first exhibition after the renovation of the Afro Brasil Museum (MAB) with the inauguration of a tribute exhibition to the museum's founder and curator, artist Emanoel Araújo, who died on September 7, 2022. The event brought together artists, authors, curators, friends and the Afro Brasil Museum team in a tribute to the curator. This exhibition is a tribute to the anniversary of Mário de Andrade's death and in commemoration of the centenary of Semana de Arte Moderna and highlights different aspects of the legacy of the poet, chronicler, novelist and researcher, as well as art and literature critic, musicologist and photographer and considered the grand intellectual of Brazilian modernism. One of the highlights of the exhibition is the Folklore Research Mission conceived by the modernist and his various trips to investigate the cultural manifestations present in different regions of Brazil. The exhibition is an immersion in Mário's deepest view of Brazilian art, presenting the poet's musical compositions, his literary production, the Folk Mission, his research on Brazilian sculpture, on Aleijadinho and Padre Jesuíno de Monte Carmelo. It also brings works by artists Brecheret, Anita Malfatti, Di Cavalcanti, the watercolors of Cicero Dias, the illustrations of Carybé for Macunaíma and the panels on the same theme of Osirate tiles, designed by Mario Zaninis. The exhibition is part of the "100 Anos da Semana de Arte Moderna de 22" celebrations. |
