The program begins with the Overture from Candide, and also includes the Serenade for Violin, String Orchestra, Harp, and Percussion, as well as excerpts from MASS, the Symphony No. 3, and West Side Story. The evening continues with majestic works by Copland, Mahler, and John Williams, who also takes a turn on the podium. High calibre performances by soloists such as Midori, Yo-Yo Ma, Thomas Hampson, Susan Graham, Nadine Sierra, and Kian Soltani gift us with a memorable concert, held in a temple of American music. |
