Description
Summary:"With interstellar themes close to those of the brilliant Sun Ra, Thomas de Pourquery now inhabits the jazz scene with his band Supersonic. Featured in July 2022 at the ancient theater of Vienna, the saxophonist with the build of a hooker (he played rugby at an advanced level in the past) offers a particularly intense one-hour set. Supported by Laurent Bardainne on tenor saxophone and Fabrice Martinez on trumpet, the pillars of the iconoclastic trio Drôle De Dames, the composer from the Paris suburbs reviews many tracks from his latest album ""Back To The Moon."" A perceptible highpoint with the dreamy ""Yes Yes Yes Yes,"" via the very spiritual title track, and thanks to the magnetic and aptly named ""Joy."" In fine form, Thomas de Pourquery plays here with a proximity to the public (the Isère structure and its open-air mineral hemicycle offer an ideal configuration) which enables him to weave intentionally complicit ties. Confirmation comes with the catchy ""I Gotta Dream,"" an upbeat single with a gimmick on the keyboards during which the spearhead of the young French guard invites the festival-goers present to participate in a choreography imbued with humor.
