A seasonable discourse, wherein is examined what is lawful during the confusions and revolutions of government [electronic resource] : especially in the case of a king deserting his kingdoms: and how far a man may lawfully conform to the powers and commands of those, who with various successes hold kingdoms : whether it be lawful, I. In paying taxes. II. In personal service. III. In taking oaths. IV. In giving himself up to a final allegiance : as also, whether the nature of war be inconsistent with the nature of the Christian religion.
